As an artist, I understand dance as an individual and/or collective evolutionary process that is in constant change as a means of communication with living and inanimate objects in our environment. My reading of dance as artistic representation consists of knowledge of the body as a biomechanical system based on the exploration of movement through African dance. Using African movement language and dialogue, we will question ourselves about identity, belonging and cultural heritage.
