“:INNEN” is the apt title of cellist Sophie-Justine Herr’s solo debut on PASCHENrecords. Her recording is a matter close to the musician’s heart, as it is the very first of its kind: she has selected five modern works by five female composers from five different cultures. The result is an album that oscillates between different timbres as a statement of content that celebrates the power of women by creating space for and connecting their personal and musical experiences, influences and perspectives.

Sophie-Justine Herr - a freelance musician in Frankfurt/Main - explores the characteristics of the cello in New and Early Music and is devoting herself more and more to experimentation - also on the margins of other genres. Her artistic approach is stimulated and informed by contemporary developments, as seen in her most recent projects: the cello trio Deep Dive Strings, the dance performance Klangkörper, the concert series Fluide Klänge, the album Lvcifer Drowning in a Sea of light, the orchestra ensemble reflektor.
