International Women‘s* Theatre Festival

Feminist Aesthetics

– Barbara Santos – Kuringa

This workshop presents a theatrical methodology dedicated to representing oppressions at the intersections of gender, race, and class, all from a structural standpoint. Our goal is to reframe perceptions of oppression and the responsibility to initiate change, while avoiding the pitfalls of individualizing the problem or assigning blame to those struggling with it. We will work with a repertoire of original exercises, games and techniques from Teatro de las Oprimidas, using feminist aesthetics from an anti-racist, decolonial and community perspective. This workshop is open to anyone interested in aesthetic tools that aim to dismantle patriarchy.
