As part of this year’s International Womxn’s Theatre Festival under the motto ‘SAFER SPACES – The Feminist Culture of Peace’, we wish for an artistic exchange across generations and cultures and would also like to organise our Womxn’s Forum in a multidisciplinary way.
Together with four visual artists, we have prepared an exhibition which blends into the history of the location and utilise the remains of the former freight forwarding site. In different forms (photography, painting, sculpture, installation, video), they deal with the space within the space, personal stories and social issues:
When and for whom do we need safe spaces?
How can we create sustainable structures that are free from the abuse of power, sexism and discrimination?
How can we create them in our private environments, our artistic spaces and in public?
How can we do this when visiting or producing art, culture and theatre?
