BLUE LAB: The Ocean and Us

Im Anschluss an die Filmvorführung Women from the Sea – Significant Gestures von Raquel Clemente Martins kommen Prof. Dr. Ciane Fernandes, Giovanna Dante und Bárbara Luci Carvalho zusammen, um über ihre unterschiedlichen Beziehungen mit dem Ozean zu reflektieren.
Aus künstlerischer, wissenschaftlicher und umweltbezogener Perspektive kommend, teilen sie einen gemeinsamen feministischen Zugang: Wie können das Wissen, die Erfahrungen und Stimmen von Frauen* dabei helfen, uns unser Verhältnis zum Ozean neu vorzustellen?
Zusammen fragen sie: Was bedeutet der Ozean für uns? Was kann der Ozean uns beibringen? Und wie können unterschiedliche – wissenschaftliche, künstlerische, verkörperte und gelebte – Wissensformen zu einem fürsorglicheren Umgang mit den Gewässern, die uns umgeben, beitragen?
Das Gespräch bringt verkörpertes Wissen, Konservierung und künstlerische Praxis zusammen und erkundet dabei den Ozean als Raum für Verbindung, Transformation, Resilienz und kollektive Fürsorge.

Following the screening of Women from the Sea – Significant Gestures by Raquel Clemente Martins, Prof. Dr. Ciane Fernandes, Giovanna Dante and Bárbara Luci Carvalho come together to reflect on their different relationships with the ocean.
Coming from artistic, scientific and environmental perspectives, they share a common feminist approach: how can womxn’s knowledge, experiences and voices help us reimagine our relationship with the ocean?
Together, they ask: What does the ocean mean to us? What can the ocean teach us? And how can different forms of knowledge, scientific, artistic, embodied and lived, contribute to a more caring relationship with the waters that sustain us?
The conversation brings together embodied knowledge, conservation and artistic practice, exploring the ocean as a space of connection, transformation, resilience and collective care.
